Use case
upTake for newsletter writers
A newsletter grows through other places: a thread, a guest post, a mention in someone else's issue. Your platform shows a subscriber count going up, not what pushed it.
Without that, you keep doing all of it, including the half that brings nobody.
What upTake measures for you
- Visits to your signup page from each post or mention, through a tagged link.
- New subscribers, reported by your signup page as a signup.
- Your issues, imported from beehiiv, Kit or Buttondown as entries in your log.
- Paid subscriptions, when you take payments through Stripe.
What it does not measure
- Which reader clicked what inside an issue: upTake imports the totals your platform reports, nothing per reader.
- Subscriptions made on a page that cannot run the script. The upTake script has to be on the page where people subscribe: if your platform does not let you add it there, send your posts to a page of your own first.
See the workflow before adding your site
Give each newsletter issue its own link and compare recorded visits and conversions. Email delivery statistics and activity on your site are different measurements.

What a week can look like Example
| Post | Visits | New subscribers | Paid subscribers | Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mention in another newsletter | 460 | 138 | 4 | $32 |
| X thread summarizing an issue | 720 | 61 | 1 | $8 |
| LinkedIn post | 150 | 9 | 0 | $0 |
The mention sent fewer visitors than the thread, and twice the subscribers.
