Use case

upTake for Chrome extension makers

The Chrome Web Store dashboard counts installs and little else. Where those people came from is mostly a blank.

If you have a landing page, the answer is there: every visitor arrives from somewhere, and clicks your install button or does not.

Most extension makers promote in the same few places: a Show HN, a Reddit thread, a short demo on X. Knowing which one sent people who clicked install decides where your next hour goes.

What upTake measures for you

  • Visits to your site from each post, through a tagged link.
  • Clicks on your Add to Chrome button, reported by your page as a download.
  • Payments from Stripe, Lemon Squeezy or Gumroad, matched to the visit behind them when the buyer pays on your site.
  • A weekly report with what to post next.

What it does not measure

  • Installs and uninstalls: upTake does not read the Chrome Web Store.
  • What people do inside the extension.

See the workflow before adding your site

Use a tracked link to measure the web visit before a store hand-off. A visit is not an install: matching a later signup or purchase depends on the identifiers and data your integration supplies.

Show HN sent the most visitors. The Reddit post sent fewer, and more of them paid.
