upTake compared

Most of these tools measure traffic, and several do it very well. upTake does something narrower: it ties your own posts, tracked links and releases to the signups and payments that followed. Each page says who the other tool suits, with a source for every claim.

How to choose

Start from the question you need answered every week. If it is “how much traffic did I get, and from where”, a web analytics tool answers it, and the pages above say which ones do it well. If it is “which of my posts brought paying customers”, you need something that sees both the visit and the payment.

Three questions sort most cases:

  • Can it tie a payment to the post or link that brought the customer, without code in your checkout?
  • Does it tell you what to do next, or only show charts?
  • Can you install it without a cookie banner?

What upTake does not do

upTake is not a full product analytics suite: no session recordings, no heatmaps, no A/B tests. Many makers keep their analytics tool and add upTake for the part it does not cover. Each comparison page has a “use both” section when that combination makes sense.
